Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #209

Messy Messy Fail - A few weeks ago, for Valentine's Day, the kids and I were making our chocolate Valentine buttons when I realized I had more pretzels & candy pieces than chocolate kisses.  I did happen to have some left over from another baking adventure in my cupboard, so I broke them out and placed them on the pretzels as per directions.  So apparently the chocolate was so old that it would not melt nicely and we were left with a bit of a messy messy mess.  See picture of crumbling chocolate below.

Tidy Victory - These 12 buttons were gross but the other 68 turned out just fine!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #208

Messy Messy Fail - We seriously have flies AND ladybugs all over  our farm house.  At first I felt bad about killing them and flushing them, but now I'm so annoyed my guilt is gone.  The toddler was so distraught by the Ladybugs "staring at him" on the wall (there were like, 3) - I told him it was good luck and at least Ladybugs don't bite and to consider himself lucky.  I chuckle.

Tidy Victory - Will be making indoor fly catchers as soon as I am done setting this post up - I'll let you know how it goes, wish me luck!

Messy Messy Fail - We have our first new home boo boo - SOMEONE (hmmm perhaps one of the two little boys?) broke off the lid of the giant shallow drawer in the refrigerator.  I can't imagine who, really I cannot......it's such a tiny little piece that snapped off.  Enter the Guerrilla glue - we'll see how it turns out!

Tidy Victory - If you follow me on Facebook you know I successfully assembled my first piece of furniture - a Walmart purchase linen closet.  We desperately needed something to contain towels and sheets, so BOOM there it is.  Linen closets ain't got NOTHIN' on me!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #206

Messy Messy Fail - At our new home, we have a custom-built bench and table in the breakfast nook that does have a few open gaps at the corners where little fingers could possible stash tiny treasures.  And they did so.  I like to call it the "The Nook of Despair".

Tidy Victory - I put on my big girl pants, figured out how to disassemble the banquette and rescued the toys!  Recovered - one lego man, a Thomas train (Percy maybe?) and a few dried up play dough balls.  Reassembled and enjoyed a cup of coffee.

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #205

Messy Messy Fail - Let's talk about this city girl moving to the country.  The city girl did not know what a well was (like a wish well with a bucket?!?!?!?!?!), and that when there is no electricity in the country with a well, the well pump does not work.  When the well pump does not work, there is no water, no toilet flushing.  No toilet flushing with three males in the house = no bueno.  Now the city girl knows what to do when the power goes out - WISH IN THE WELL FOR THE ELECTRICITY TO COME BACK PRONTO.

Tidy Victory - This city girl also discovered a composting bin next to the barn and vegetable garden.  I have always had a thing for not wanting to throw so much garbage away, feeling wasteful, etc.  I am so excited to be throwing all of our food scraps, coffee grinds and even fireplace ashes away in it to reuse in the summer for our garden!

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #204

Messy Messy Fail - Along with a new country house comes a long crushed stone county driveway UPHILL.  When that long crushed stone uphill driveway freezes, it's pointless to try getting up it.  Even with a running start.

Tidy Victory - Salt.  Lots and lots of bags of salt.

Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #203

Messy Messy Fail - It seriously took almost three weeks to get the internet set up at our new house here at Starry Acres (named it myself!).  Hence the lack of HIH party posts over the last month.

Tidy Victory - Fear not - we are back on the grid, looking to invest in a generator (we'll save that story for another post) and ready to roll people!  Now let's party!
